ALLMODERN RETAIL CONCEPT

Conceptualizing an e-commerce brand into a physical manifestation. Rooting the principles in modern the design the store concept pulls influences from the greats. The vertical shingles are directly referenced from the interior of the Walter Gropius’ first US home in Lincoln, MA. The exterior mimics the work of Mies Van de Rohe - a large glass facade bluring the lines between the inside and out. Hanging above the cash wrap is a large mobile designed with the Bauhaus shapes which are also mimicked in the AllModern logo. The idea of nature is carried throughout the space with the large skylight and use of live plants. The cool concrete is paired with a warm wood to bring depth and warmth into the space to create a welcoming environment. Playing homage to Wayfair’s tech roots the store features a large digital screen in the design studio and various vertical touch screens for user interface. The concept was intended to change the perception of modern - moving away from the austere to a warm inviting space.

AllModern currently has 3 retail stores Lynnfield, Dedham and Austin.
